## Summary

The AI music platform's new beta connector works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Cursor. Songs use your existing credits and land in your library.

## Article

Until today, connecting Suno to an AI assistant meant routing through third-party servers that wrapped the platform's unofficial APIs. That changes with [Suno MCP Beta](https://suno.com), the company's first official Model Context Protocol server, announced October 28 by Chief Product Officer Jack Brody.

The server exposes song generation as a callable tool inside MCP-compatible hosts. Suno lists Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, and Claude Code among the supported clients.

## How It Works

Setup requires no API key. Users paste `https://api.suno.com/mcp` into their AI tool's connector settings and sign in with a Suno account. Completed tracks consume credits from the user's existing Suno plan and appear in their normal library, the same as songs made on the web or mobile apps.

The beta supports conversational song creation, where users describe what they want and refine lyrics and style inside the chat. It also handles voice memo uploads that can be turned into full tracks, and remixes of songs already in a user's library. Users with a saved Suno Voice can apply it to generations triggered through the connector.

"Many already plan and work on songs on other platforms and have asked for us to build a connector so they can work without switching between tabs," Brody wrote in the announcement. Suno is seeking early testers to use the MCP and provide feedback.

## What MCP Is

The Model Context Protocol is an [open standard introduced by Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/news/model-context-protocol) in November 2024. It defines a common way for AI assistants to call external tools and receive structured responses. MCP servers describe their available actions in a shared format, and compatible hosts can invoke those actions during a conversation.

Before today, several community-built MCP servers existed for Suno, but they depended on third-party API resellers or browser automation scripts. The official server removes that indirection. It also means generations are properly authenticated against the user's own Suno account, with credit usage and output licensing matching whatever plan they already pay for.

## Limits

Early access is gated behind a signup form. Custom connectors also require paid tiers in Claude and ChatGPT, so free-plan users of those assistants cannot add the server even if Suno approves them for the beta. Suno has not published rate limits, model selection options, or a timeline for general availability.

The release follows Suno's Speech beta, which launched October 1, and the v6 music models that arrived in September. Both expanded what the platform can generate. The MCP server expands where it can be generated from.

For agent builders, Suno joins a short list of creative tools shipping first-party MCP servers alongside Figma and Notion. That gives agentic workflows a common protocol across design, documents, and now audio. Whether that protocol sees broad adoption depends on how many services follow.
